Volunteer Opportunities for the Work Week of Oct 2-8, 2010
Volunteer opportunities are available in construction leadership, events, and build site hospitality. (Unfortunately there aren’t any general construction volunteer positions available because these positions will be filled by the event sponsors.) Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to submit an application. We will compare your interests and skills with the positions available to determine which position(s) we can offer you. Please be aware that with an anticipated high volume of applicants we cannot guarantee that all applicants will be placed in a volunteer position.
Please review the Project Information & Application Instructions and look over the Descriptions of Volunteer Opportunities to get started. Then fill out and return parts 1 and 2 of the application:
- Volunteer Application Part 1
- Volunteer Application- Part 2A (Construction)
- Volunteer Application – Part 2B (Events and Build Site Hospitality)
Please note that while the deadline for submitting a Construction Leadership application was June 15th, we are still currently accepting applications and will continue to do so until all of the positions are filled.

27th Annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project.
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity (TCHFH) has been chosen to co-host the 27th Annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project. The project will be held from October 4-8, 2010. Build activities begin on World Habitat Day, October 4, as part of a worldwide effort to highlight the need for stable communities and healthy housing. The Case-Burr Neighborhood of Saint Paul’s East Side will be the ground-zero for this historical community building event!
The Carter Work Project has been a catalyst for increasing the work being done in local communities and empowering people to bring hope, stability and housing solutions. President and Mrs. Carter are Habitat for Humanity’s most famous volunteers and give a week of their time each year to help Habitat build, renovate or repair homes and raise awareness about the need for affordable and decent housing. Since that first build, the Carters and thousands of volunteers have worked with Habitat for Humanity across the United States and in Mexico, Canada, Hungary, South Africa, South Korea, India, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, China, Laos and Vietnam.
The Twin Cities, like many communities nationwide, have been hit hard by the housing crisis and economic downturn. With help from city planning and development staff, Twin Cities Habitat identified appropriate build sites to maximize the impact of The Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project.
“The Twin Cities affiliate has established a national reputation for not only building new homes, but for responding in creative and innovative ways to many other local housing needs.” -Jonathan Reckford, Chief Executive Officer, Habitat for Humanity.
